Since the beginning of this year, breakthroughs in solid-state battery technology and mass production plans have been intensively released, and the evolution of next-generation battery technology has accelerated. CCID Think Tank stated that solid-state batteries, as an ideal power source to replace traditional liquid lithium batteries, have entered the acceleration stage of mass production and may rewrite the market pattern of power batteries.
Accelerating mass production and seizing development opportunities by various countries
Compared with mainstream lithium batteries, solid-state batteries have outstanding advantages such as high energy density, high chemical stability, and high safety, and are recognized by the industry as strong competitors for the next generation of high-performance lithium batteries.
Recently, news of new developments in solid-state batteries has been circulating frequently. On the domestic side, Zhiji Automobile has released a new pure electric vehicle model, the Zhiji L6, which is equipped with the first generation of light-year solid-state batteries for the first time; Guangzhou Automobile Group announced that it will achieve the installation of all solid-state batteries in vehicles by 2026; Changan Automobile plans to gradually mass produce solid-state batteries in 2027; Tai Lan New Energy has developed the world's first vehicle grade single cell capacity of 120Ah and a measured energy density of up to 720Wh/kg for ultra-high energy density integrated solid-state lithium metal batteries. Internationally, traditional automobile manufacturing powers such as Japan, Germany, and South Korea have also entered the solid-state battery industry. Among them, Toyota and Nissan in Japan will advance their mass production time from 2030 to around 2027 and 2028; Samsung in South Korea has completed a pilot production line for SDI solid-state batteries and plans to develop large-scale battery production technology by 2025 and achieve mass production by 2027.
The influx of funds into the low altitude economy has become a new hotspot
With the acceleration of solid-state battery installation process, more and more companies are starting to layout the solid-state battery track. According to incomplete statistics, since 2024, solid-state battery projects with a total investment of over 34 billion yuan have been signed or started. Among them, the investment amount for the annual production of 10GWh solid-state lithium batteries and PACK manufacturing project, jointly developed by Xiaoyi Economic Development Zone, Pengfei Industry, and Fujian Judian, reached 10 billion yuan; The investment amount of the semi-solid project invested and constructed by China Machinery Industry Construction Group Co., Ltd. and Fujian Judian New Energy Co., Ltd. reached 5 billion yuan; The investment amount of the new semi-solid battery and energy storage system integration project invested by Hualing Group reaches 2 billion yuan.
The reporter found that the low altitude economy has become a new hotspot in the field of solid-state battery applications while sorting out new projects for solid-state batteries and new developments in battery enterprises. Yiwei Lithium Energy stated that the company already has a layout and application of related battery products in the low altitude field; Ningde Times has collaborated on the development of a civilian electric manned aircraft project using condensed state batteries; Xiangxin Technology's subsidiary has received a designated development notice for a leading domestic flying car manufacturer's flying car project, confirming that the company will supply products such as battery lower box assemblies and liquid cooling plates.
Industry experts have pointed out that the main carriers of low altitude economy are drones and aerial vehicles. Compared to new energy vehicles, they have higher requirements for battery energy density, safety, environmental adaptability, and other aspects. In the future, solid-state batteries will have good development space in the low altitude economic market.
Targeting Difficulties and Realizing Backward Fast Forward

Recently, when discussing how China can lead the new track of power batteries, CCID Research Institute stated: "China started relatively late in the field of solid-state batteries, and its industrial development faces challenges such as weak intellectual property strength, imperfect collaborative innovation mechanisms, and insufficient policy support. To help the solid-state battery industry achieve rapid development, relevant departments and enterprises should accelerate breakthroughs in key core technology research and development of solid-state batteries, build intellectual property advantages; strengthen domestic and foreign enterprise research and development cooperation, improve collaborative innovation mechanisms for solid-state batteries; strengthen top-level design and policy support."
CCID Research Institute further proposes that relevant departments can include solid-state battery technology research and development in the list of "leading projects", encourage and support leading power battery enterprises to take the lead in implementation, drive small and medium-sized enterprises to participate in innovation activities, and aim for technological difficulties to achieve breakthroughs; Guide enterprises to focus on solid-state battery technology innovation, simultaneously carry out patent accumulation and reserve, and strengthen overseas patent layout in a targeted manner in combination with market expansion strategies.
In terms of increasing research and development cooperation between domestic and foreign enterprises and improving the collaborative innovation mechanism of solid-state batteries, upstream and downstream enterprises in the industry chain, as well as universities and research institutions, should carry out basic common technology research and development around electrolyte materials, positive and negative interface compatibility, lithium metal material life cycle, safety performance, etc., and carry out all-round cooperation guided by accelerating the industrialization of solid-state batteries. At the same time, the solid-state battery industry should fully leverage China's advantage in the large-scale market of new energy vehicles, take the lead in achieving installation and large-scale application, and extend its existing competitive advantages to solid-state batteries.
In terms of strengthening top-level design and policy support, relevant departments need to formulate and implement strategic plans for the solid-state battery industry, elevating the innovative development of solid-state batteries to a strategic height that affects and determines the dominant position of China's power battery and even new energy vehicle industries. At the same time, focusing on the research and development, equipment and industrialization of solid state batteries, we will promptly introduce and increase tax incentives and financial subsidies.
