The largest ethylene plant in the country has officially entered the trial operation stage!

Recently, the 1.5 million tons/year ethylene cracking gas compressor turbine of the Yulong Petrochemical Refining and Chemical Integration Project (Phase I), which was undertaken by the company's Yulong Petrochemical project, successfully underwent a single test, marking the official transition of the country's largest ethylene plant from the construction phase to the trial operation phase.

As the core equipment of the ethylene plant, the unit consists of four individual units: steam turbine, low-pressure cylinder, intermediate pressure cylinder, and high-pressure cylinder, with a total length of 25.1 meters and a total weight of nearly 540 tons. Since the owner determined the trial operation node of the steam turbine, the project organization has concentrated its efforts to overcome the difficulties of welding the ultra-high pressure pipeline P91 and the high requirements for stress free inspection of the steam turbine inlet and outlet flanges. On the premise of ensuring quality and safety, the preparation work for trial operation, such as tightening the torque of the steam turbine inlet and outlet bolts and insulation of the steam turbine body, has been completed within 24 hours. During the pre commissioning inspection, the technical representative of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries highly affirmed the excellent performance of the project's stress free piping flange parallelism not exceeding 0.35 millimeters.
Yulong Island Refining and Chemical Integration Project
The Yulong Island Refining and Chemical Integration Project is planned to be implemented in two phases. The first phase of the project utilizes imported crude oil to construct a 20 million ton/year refining, 3 million ton/year mixed aromatic hydrocarbon, and 3 million ton/year ethylene refining and chemical integration project. The construction content includes the main project, storage and transportation engineering, and auxiliary engineering.
The main project mainly includes 10 million tons/year atmospheric distillation, 10 million tons/year atmospheric and vacuum distillation, 3 × 2.6 million tons/year residual oil hydrogenation, 3.4 million tons/year diesel hydrogenation, 3.6 million tons/year diesel hydrocracking, 1.4 million tons/year kerosene hydrogenation, 4 million tons/year catalytic cracking, 2 million tons/year wax oil hydrocracking, 2 × 2.6 million tons/year continuous reforming, 3 million tons/year aromatic hydrocarbon combination, 2 × 1.5 million tons/year ethylene, 2 × 85+1 million tons/year cracking gasoline hydrogenation, 2 × 220000 tons/year butadiene, 2 × 800000 tons/year ethylene glycol (4641, -57.00, -1.21%) (EG) unit.
There are also production facilities such as 200000+400000 tons/year ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer (EVA)/low-density polyethylene (LDPE), 300000 tons/year high-density polyethylene (HDPE), 500000 tons/year full density polyethylene (FDPE), 100000 tons/year ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE), 4 × 40+300000 tons/year polypropylene, 600000 tons/year ABS resin, 260000 tons/year acrylonitrile, 300000 tons/year epoxy propane (PO)+650000 tons/year styrene (SM) co production, and 500000 tons/year ethylbenzene (EB)/SM.

Yulong Petrochemical's recent updates
On August 5, 2024, with the lifting and installation of the upper section of the secondary intercooler (E1202A) of the 2 # 500000 tons/year high-pressure polyethylene (EVA/LDPE) unit at Shandong Yulong Petrochemical, it marked the successful completion of the first large-scale equipment lifting by the Gu Zhendong operation team of Huanqiu Jilin Chemical Construction and Installation Company, sounding the "charge" for the construction of the EVA unit at Shandong Yulong Petrochemical project.

On July 15th, the first circulating hydrogen compressor unit (3.4 million tons/year diesel hydrogenation upgrading unit) of Yulong Petrochemical Diesel Hydrogenation Project of Northwest Branch of China Chemical Second Construction Company successfully completed a single unit test of the steam turbine. During the entire test period, the vibration status of each channel of the steam turbine was relatively stable, the overall amplitude was not high, and the waveform repeatability was good. All data met expectations, laying a good foundation for the next step of circulating hydrogen compressor test.

 

On May 31st, the product water of Unit 1 of Yulong Petrochemical's thermal seawater desalination system passed all indicators and was successfully recovered, marking the successful production of water by the seawater desalination system.
The 160000 ton/day hot film coupled seawater desalination project of Yulong Petrochemical fully explores the cascade reuse of low-temperature industrial waste heat resources in Yulong Chemical System, combined with green and low-carbon, hot film coupled F-MED-RO new process and double membrane full process process technology, mainly solving the water consumption problems of Yulong Island Refining and Chemical Integrated Project and the seawater desalination plant itself in production, life and other aspects.
The seawater desalination device utilizes the waste heat and electricity generated by the Yulong Island refining project to produce fresh water for refining production, reducing the consumption of surface water and groundwater. The total water production of this project is 160000 tons per day, using a thermal membrane coupling process, including 80000 tons per day of membrane seawater desalination and 80000 tons per day of thermal seawater desalination.
