Recently, in the Santanghu wind zone of Barkol County, with the successful grid connection of the last wind turbine, the 1 million kilowatt wind power generation project of China Resources Santanghu has achieved full capacity grid connected power generation. This marks the official transition of the project from the construction phase to the operational phase, providing a continuous supply of green energy to the State Grid.

The project is located in the southwest of Shitoumei No.1 open-pit coal mine in Barkol County, covering an area of nearly 300 square kilometers. It is the largest single project of China Resources in Xinjiang region. The total investment of the project is about 4.5 billion yuan, and the construction content includes a 250 MW electrochemical energy storage station using a lithium iron phosphate battery energy storage system, a 220 kV boosting collection station, 154 6.5 MW wind turbines, and 40 collection lines. It is worth mentioning that the performance test of the world's first 100 megawatt hour cascaded energy storage power station was completed at the energy storage station constructed in this project.

Yang Gaisheng, an operation and maintenance engineer at the Huarun Saltwater Spring Wind Power Storage Station, said, "In the case where the entire power system does not require particularly large amounts of energy, we can store the excess electricity generated in our energy storage station and then send it back to the grid during peak hours. The voltage of the grid will be maintained at a relatively stable state

Since the project started in May 2023, the construction team has overcome numerous difficulties through rational planning and scientific organization, seizing the construction window period. In December 2023, the first batch of wind turbines will be connected to the grid for power generation; By July 2024, all wind turbines for the project will be lifted and all tower assemblies for the power collection lines will be completed; At 11:00 am on October 15, 2024, 154 wind turbines were successfully connected to the grid for full capacity power generation.

Liu Xueqing, General Manager of the 1 million kilowatt wind power generation project at China Resources Santanghu, said, "There are certain difficulties in the construction process. The capacity of the wind turbines is increasing, and the lifting is also becoming increasingly difficult. The requirements for the lifting technology are particularly high. We strictly control every lifting process, strictly prohibit reckless construction, and ultimately achieve full capacity grid connection of the project. In the future, we will continue to maintain high work enthusiasm, efficiently promote subsequent project construction management work, with the goal of creating demonstration and benchmark projects, and achieve high-quality development of new energy projects

It is reported that the 1 million kilowatt wind power generation project of China Resources Santanghu can deliver 3.074 billion kilowatt hours of green electricity to the power grid annually based on the equivalent full load utilization hours of 3074 hours in the design year. It can save 900000 tons of standard coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 2.6 million tons annually. At the same time, it can provide reliable power support to areas such as Shitoumei Mine, Tiaohu Industrial Park, and Nao Railway Traction Station, which is of great significance for achieving coordinated economic and environmental development.
